Before I discuss this lovely value red wine, I should make a confession: this is one of those bottles I polished off on my own- whoops. It was one of those nights I found myself craving the spice and complexity of a Rhone blend, and the price was right for this badboy- $11.99. (totally reasonable for a pretty elegant and complex Cotes-du-Rhone.)
And here are some tasting notes for the lovely 2006 M. Chapoutier Belleruche:
The nose is marked mainly by red fruit- cherry, raspberry, with a little earthy funk (my fav!) which all translated to the palate, as well as a subtle peppery spice, and a hint of vanilla. The grapes in this Cotes-Du-Rhone are mainly Grenache and Syrah- silk and pepper, which gives this wine a beautiful complexity.
If it wasn’t clear already by the fact that I almost finished the bottle on my own, I would like to go ahead and take this time to officially recommend this wine to you. It would pair beautifully with some BBQ- I’m particularly liking this wine with some good ol’ fashioned ribs. Enjoy, winos!
