I don’t know what it is about red trucks and wine, but I stopped off at this old grocery store in Agnew, Washington on the Old Olympic Highway today to get a candy bar and was pleased to find a wine shop inside. I guess it was nostalgia getting to me because I haven’t stopped here since I was about 5 years old to get supplies (candy bars) before heading out fishing with my Dad. I was greeted by the merchant Joanna who introduced me to the new owner Chris Frankfurth who is responsible for the renovation of the grocery that was built as a gas station in the 1930’s.

Chris has been living in this area all his life and purchased the Agnew Grocery & Feed store 6 months ago. He is contemplating turning the feed shop into a restaurant/wine bar to bring in more customers since there are no other places for food or drink in the area. Joanna told me that they plan to salvage the wood from an old meat storage shed for continued renovation.
This quaint wine cellar offers many wines from the surrounding area as well as labels from the greater Pacific Northwest and California. There is also a worldliness among the shelves that congers ones vinous appetite, a good sign of what is to come.
